Severn Valley Country Park

If it is a haven of peace and tranquility that you are searching for, with some fantastic views thrown in for good measure, then you need look no further than the Green Flag Award winning Severn Valley Country Park, near Alveley, just nine miles south of Bridgnorth off the A442.
Located on the National Cycle Network, it offers 51 hectares of the most beautiful countryside, with marked trails to help you discover the woodlands, meadows and history of the area, which, for many years was utilised for quarrying and the mining of coal. Today it stands as as testament to the power of nature to reclaim such land, with grasslands full of butterflies and orchids, ancient bluebell woods, reed-beds, wetlands and the glorious River Severn itself.
If you are a little more energetic an annual events programme includes guided walks, family events, and children’s activities, and an easy access nature trail for all abilities, which features a fully accessible bird hide. You can go orienteering as well, if you wish, and there is a natural play area. When you need refreshment after all your exertions there is a tasty teashop waiting to welcome you.
Incidentally, it is also a request stop on the Severn Valley Railway. What more could you want?
